A 40KG dumbbell is ideal for: single-arm rows (Kroc rows), dumbbell bench press, goblet squats, Romanian deadlifts, farmers walks, dumbbell thrusters and overhead press. At 40KG, compound pulling movements like Kroc rows and farmers walks are where this weight truly builds elite back and trap strength. It is also used for heavy goblet squats and loaded lunges targeting the glutes.
These are rated commercial grade and built for dropping in gym environments. At 40KG, however, dropping on bare concrete or tiles is strongly discouraged — the impact force is significant and will damage both the flooring and potentially the rubber coating over time. We strongly recommend pairing with 15–20mm rubber gym tiles for any dropping from height at this weight class.
